How long does an iron door last?

An iron door can last much longer than a wood door—often a lifetime.

Iron doors are extremely strong and resistant to weather, pests, and warping. With proper care, they can last 50 years or more.

Wood doors, while beautiful, are more likely to rot, swell, or get damaged over time—especially in harsh weather. Most wood doors last around 10 years with regular maintenance.

So if you're looking for long-term durability, an iron door is the better choice.

Are iron doors smart lock compatible?

Yes, you can use a smart lock, just make sure your smart lock will work with a 2" - 2.75" thick door.

Non-thermally broken doors are 2" thick and thermally broken doors are 2.75" thick.

*You may need to reach out to your lock manufacture and request an extension kit.

Are your doors handmade?
Yes, each door is handmade — but with the precision and consistency you’d expect from a machine. Our craftsmen follow exacting standards, so while every door is unique, the quality is always flawless.
Do you have impact glass?
Yes, our iron doors are crafted from heavy 12-gauge steel for unmatched durability and security. When paired with impact-rated glass, they can handle even the toughest storms and break-in attempts—making them a solid choice for high-security or coastal homes.
My current door jamb is 4 9/16"

Will your standard 2x6" jamb work as a replacement for my existing 4 9/16" jamb?

Yes! Our standard 2x6" jamb and threshold are designed to replace a traditional 4 9/16" jamb, making them an excellent fit for most standard wall applications.

Note: For homes with 2x4" walls, we recommend our 2x6" jamb. For homes with 2x6" walls, we recommend our 2x8" jamb for the best fit and installation.

Does it come with the deadbolt?

Our doors come with a high-quality deadbolt pre-installed, but if you'd prefer a smart lock, it can be swapped out.

Just make sure the smart lock you choose is compatible with door thicknesses between 2" and 2.75", as many standard smart locks are designed for thinner doors and may require an extended adapter kit.

How do I clean my door?

The easiest way to clean your iron door is with distilled water and a micro-fiber cloth, as distilled water helps prevent mineral build up. Regularly removing debris and dirt will help maintain its appearance and extend its lifespan.

For best results, please avoid using:

  • Bleach
  • Any chemical cleaners
  • Dish soap
  • Abrasive brushes
  • Tap water (to prevent potential residue or spotting)

For the glass you can safely use Windex glass cleaner.

Taking these precautions will help preserve your door’s finish and ensure lasting beauty.

How difficult is it to install an iron door?

Not difficult at all! Installing an iron door doesn’t require any special tools or advanced skills—just standard construction tools like a level, drill, and lag bolts.
