What is Thermal Break?

A ❄️thermal break in an iron door is like putting a jacket between the inside and outside of the door.

Iron can get really hot or really cold, and that heat or cold can travel through the door into your house. But a thermal break adds a special layer in the middle that stops the heat or cold from passing through. It helps keep your house warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.

Note: All of our doors at IronDoor.com are filled with spray polyethene foam for insulation, but choosing the Thermal Break adds an extra layer of insulation.

If you're in a colder climate, we highly recommend choosing the thermal break upgrade. It adds an extra layer of insulation to help keep your home warmer and more energy-efficient—especially during harsh winters.

It also helps prevent condensation from building up on your door during the colder months, keeping your entryway dry and comfortable.

With a thermal break, you get added protection against the elements—without compromising on style.

Do wood doors need thermal break?

Thermal break isn't necessary in wood doors—they already do a decent job at resisting temperature transfer on their own.

However, wood can still warp or swell with moisture or extreme weather, so it’s not always ideal for every climate. That’s one of the reasons people choose thermally broken iron doors—you get the strength of steel without the temperature problems.
